Mac, SonicWall Vpn, Mcafee cant get on at work!?
I have a macbook and im trying to get on the internet at work… they have some type of security enabled where i have to download a software from mcafee must be an antivirus to get on the net…. but anytime i get the messeage and click the link it ays u need internet explorer 5.5 and above…. wat do i do??? i dont get it at all and i need the internet its very urgent thank you!!! so MUCHH!!
so basically do you think they will have the compatible software for the mac?

Ugh, it sounds like network admittance control (NAC) of some type, and it’s not Mac-aware.
One of the newer sets of security tools being enforce company policies before you can connect to the network, or before you can cross a network boundary (such as a connection to the internet). While many companies already have strict computer policies specifying what types of hardware and software you can use, few had tools to automatically enforce the policies.
NAC suites are sold by large network hardware vendors (for example Cisco and Juniper) and use their network hardware and central policy servers to enforce the policies. For example:
–When you connect to the network, you get a temporary IP address and the ability to only connect to a policy server.
–If your machine doesn’t already have the policy software installed, you are forced to download and install the policy client software
–On reboot, the policy client checks for the presence of items that are required by your company, such as a specific version of anti-virus software, certain settings like file-sharing being turned off, and no peer-to-peer software active.
–When the policy software determines your machine is acceptable, it contacts the policy server with the clean bill of health report.
–The policy server informs the network infrastructure, which changes you to a regular network connection and allows you to access the rest of the corporate network.
–If you try unplugging your machine and swapping in a different one, the network hardware notices the change in hardware address and restarts the process again.
